<br />
We're back to our old ways (well, sort of)...when it comes to jewelry Erin is willing to SPLURGE on statement pieces and Maddie opts to SAVE on her favorite accessories!<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
SPLURGE<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhDjk38MDIEb_AIFeNGeUmza3TAx7V8GNWrWfyB6nP9mbnT7jvL34HJ5fA6cw1GqajOIF-Maj-A4WTlruKpScjzsGd9A9QrS6ZFRRbEcYoQnPOTEoBPBK_SHVTaUNY1aOWpbPRLLai0fpw/s1600/gypsy-feather-necklace.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhDjk38MDIEb_AIFeNGeUmza3TAx7V8GNWrWfyB6nP9mbnT7jvL34HJ5fA6cw1GqajOIF-Maj-A4WTlruKpScjzsGd9A9QrS6ZFRRbEcYoQnPOTEoBPBK_SHVTaUNY1aOWpbPRLLai0fpw/s320/gypsy-feather-necklace.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<div style="text-align: left;">
I realize that it's starting to sound like I tend to SPLURGE on a lot of fashion and beauty products. However, I think I have a good reason for being willing to splurge on jewelry. I've never worn a lot of jewelry and most of the pieces that I wear all the time have been gifts that are appropriate for everyday dress. For instance, I wear a necklace of the #7 with small diamonds on my neck because it was a gift handed down to me from my mother. I wear a silver <a href="http://www.claddaghring.com/Silver-Claddagh-Rings-s/2.htm">Irish Claddagh</a> ring on my left hand everyday because I have since I was very young. I wear a <a href="http://www.tiffany.com/">Tiffany & Co.</a> roman numeral ring on my right hand everyday because I guarantee I'll lose it if I take it off. Lastly, I wear a <a href="http://www.capecodjewelers.com/index.php/cape-cod-jewelry-1/cape-cod-bracelets/cape-cod-single-ball-bracelet.html">Cape Cod ball bracelet</a> because almost every girl in my family has one and it symbolizes where I grew up in the summers. All of my everyday jewelry has special meaning to me and that's why I never take them off. However, there are times when I want to step away from my everyday jewelry routine and show a little more personality. I'm a sucker for statement jewelry pieces and my favorite brands happen to contribute to that boho-chic vibe that I've talked about in past posts. I'll tend to splurge on jewelry such as statement necklaces or stacks of bangles because these pieces are so easy to pair with super simple tanks and jeans to make your outfit effortlessly interesting and stylish. My go-to for unique and attention-getting necklaces is Nicole Richie's line, <a href="http://www.houseofharlow1960.com/">House of Harlow 1960</a>. One of my favorite statement necklaces from this line is the <a href="http://www.houseofharlow1960.com/5-station-necklace-in-leather/13883-174872">5 Station Necklace in Leather</a>, which I have in black leather and wear all the time. In my opinion, it's not a bad price for $75 and the geometric shapes of the necklace add instant intrigue to your outfit. Researching for this post has been dangerous for me because now I've got my eye on the slightly more expensive <a href="http://www.houseofharlow1960.com/gypsy-feather-necklace/51385-378289">Gypsy Feather Necklace</a>. Another great brand that I love for jewelry is <a href="http://www.alexandani.com/">Alex and Ani</a>. So I never fell into that Pandora charm bracelet phase that seemed to take over for a while but I have definitely committed to hopping on the <a href="http://www.alexandani.com/bangles.html">Alex and Ani bangles</a> bandwagon. The line has a lot of jewelry pieces but I stick with the bangles because I love the look of different beads and charms stacked on an arm. My first bangle was the <a href="http://www.alexandani.com/bangles/initial-e-expandable-wire-bangle.html?attribute=196&option=1516">initial charm</a> which runs for $24. These bracelets are arguably a splurge because their price tags aren't too high, but you can never have just one...that's where the obsession and the extra cash comes in!<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://cdn-s3-2.wanelo.com/product/image/5619048/original.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://cdn-s3-2.wanelo.com/product/image/5619048/original.jpg" width="262" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<div style="text-align: left;">
There are very few instances in which I feel like I have to spend more than $25 on a piece of jewelry, and that's when it is made of something valuable. I will never understand how people spend so much money on a piece of costume jewelry. It is literally beyond me because it will go out of style within a couple of seasons and it's not something that you're going to hold on to for the rest of your life. Now don't get me wrong, I am happy to spend big money on pearls, diamonds or gold that I will have for the rest of my life (or rather I am happy to accept them as gifts that my fiancee has spent big money on), but there is just something so backwards about spending upwards of $100 on something that is literally worth almost nothing. This is why I choose to SAVE on jewelry. <a href="http://www.forever21.com/">Forever 21</a> is my best friend when it comes to necklaces. You can find some truly amazing things in there that look almost identical or better than designer jewelry. People always assume that I got my cute statement pieces from <a href="http://www.jcrew.com/">JCrew</a> or <a href="http://www.nordstrom.com/">Nordstrom</a>, but they are almost always bargain finds. The best example of this is the statement necklace that I got from <a href="http://www.forever21.com/">Forever 21</a> that we blogged about in one of our <a href="http://theglamgrad.blogspot.com/2013/05/current-obsession-statement-necklaces.html">Current Obsessions</a>. It's unbelievably adorable and it was $12, so when it inevitably goes out of style I don't even feel guilty about it. If I am in need of something a little nicer for an event, I will peruse the <a href="http://www.dillards.com/">Dillard's</a> sales counters in the jewelry department for something good. They almost always have amazing deals and I can get a necklace that used to be $70 for around $18. It's truly a magical experience and that is why I choose to SAVE on my jewelry instead of SPLURGE.</div>

<div style="margin: 0 auto; width: 600px;">
<div style="position: relative;">
Happy Memorial Day Everyone! Today's How To is tailored to dressing for Holidays without being obnoxiously obvious about it.<br />
<br />
I absolutely love to dress up for holidays regardless of how big or small they are. There is just something about going to my closet and having the challenge of dressing to a theme without looking like my parents dressed me for a 4th of July parade when I was a kid. I also love it when people point out that I dressed to theme and I can look at my outfit and act like I had no idea that that happened. I like live for that moment for some weird reason, but it really can be a challenge so here at The Glamorous Graduate, we tried to put together a how to so that you can have your moment too.<br />
<br />
1. Go Off Hue: Just because Memorial Day's colors are classic crimson, navy and white doesn't mean that you have to dress in exactly those colors. Going off hue like the <a href="http://www.polyvore.com/cgi/thing?.embedder=7229952&.svc=blogger&id=84218781">JCrew</a> top below shows that you're being festive with your outfit choice, but you're not being a try hard. By doing this, it's like you just happened to be in theme for the day accidentally on purpose of course.<br />
<br />
2. Play with Patterns: This is just a cardinal rule for every day, but it especially rings true when you're trying to effortlessly dress the part for a holiday. The high waisted skirt by <a href="http://www.polyvore.com/cgi/thing?.embedder=7229952&.svc=blogger&id=83393642">Alex and Olivia</a> has a nice blue to it that fits into Memorial Day's colors, but it doesn't scream that that is its sole purpose in your closet.<br />
<br />
3. Accent Accordingly: Don't be too matchy-matchy. Even though you may be off hue, you don't want your accessories to be exactly in the same blue and red as you used in your outfit. Your accessories should hint at your colors, but not match them so well that it's obvious. The <a href="http://www.polyvore.com/cgi/thing?.embedder=7229952&.svc=blogger&id=81719856">Chan Lu</a> bracelet in this outfit accents the red of the top and the yellow of the clutch well, but doesn't match them perfectly.<br />
<br />
4. Use Surprising Accessories: Just because the colors of today are Red, White and Blue doesn't mean you can't use accent colors outside of that palette like you would in your every day style choices. By using surprising accessories like the yellow <a href="http://www.polyvore.com/bcbgeneration_handbag_beverly_envelope_clutch/thing?context_id=83526551&context_type=collection&id=84080358">BCBG Generation clutch</a>, you are able to really look the part of Memorial Day, but actually be able to pretend like you weren't trying to.<br />
<br />
"Oh! I guess I did dress in Memorial Day colors! I had no idea! I wasn't even trying to this morning" (Don't worry, your secret's safe with the girls at The Glamorous Graduate)<br />

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
It would be more appropriate to call my relationship with <a href="http://www.clarisonic.com/">Clarisonic</a> a lifetime obsession. If you're unfamiliar with the name, Clarisonic is a pulsating skin care brush that does wonders for your skin. If you're ever feeling like your skin looks dull and needs a refresher, the Clarisonic will work to fix every problem. The pulsing movement of the brush acts like a buffer on your skin to remove any dead skin or imperfections. Once you use it, you can see an immediate change in your complexion. Not only does it give a nice glow to your skin, but it will also make your face feel incredibly soft and clean. Because I use the Clarisonic for buffering my skin, I'll only use it a few times a week because I've found that my skin feels sensitive if I use it everyday. The Clarisonic cleansing system might be a splurge for some of you, as it goes for around $200 but there is a great option called the <a href="http://www.clarisonic.com/shop/sonic_skin_cleansing_systems/sonic_skin_cleansing_system_mia/">Clarisonic Mia</a> that is smaller and only has one speed but it also only costs $119. This is actually the version that I use and I love it! <b>BONUS</b>: The Mia comes in a ton of cute colors to choose from so you can add a little personality to your otherwise boring cleansing routine!<br />

<br />
<br />
Today I really needed a pick me up. Not only because it is Hump Day, but because I have been a little under the weather and I'm just plain exhausted for no reason at all. Such is the life of a Glamorous Graduate. I was getting ready for my day and happened to glance over to a shelf where I keep some hod-podge beauty items and noticed something sparkly. There sat my <a href="http://www.butterlondon.com/">Butter London Nail Polish </a>collection, all of which is glitter (typical), and I thought, "wouldn't it be nice to take 30 minutes or so to completely zone out and make something more beautiful for no other reason than for myself?"<br />
<br />
So that's what I did. During my snack break (yes, I take snack breaks), I took the rest of the time to do just that. I sat there in my own little world and took the time to make my nails pretty. While I only own the glitter versions of <a href="http://www.butterlondon.com/">Butter London Nail Polish</a>, there is just something about it that keeps me coming back time and time again. I love the colors they have and the brush makes it extremely easy to get a good even coat despite the polish literally just being glitter with a hint of clear nail polish in it. The other thing I like about <a href="http://www.butterlondon.com/">Butter</a> is that it seems to last a lot longer in comparison to similar polishes after a good top coat. This is for me the real reason why I love it so much. There is nothing worse than painting your nails a super cute color and spending a decent amount of time on them, especially now that <a href="http://pinterest.com/theglamgrad/">Pinterest</a> has really stepped up the game of nail art, only to have them get chipped within the first hour. After that first chip, we all know it's downhill from there. You can also feel great about putting <a href="http://www.butterlondon.com/lacquers/grid">Butter London</a> on your nails because they pioneered carcinogenic free nail and hand products.<br />
<br />
Needless to say, if you really need a pick me up as bad as I did today go try <a href="http://www.butterlondon.com/">Butter London Nail Polish. </a>They sell it at <a href="http://shop.nordstrom.com/sr?origin=keywordsearch&contextualcategoryid=2375500&keyword=butter+london+nail+polish">Nordstrom</a> and honestly, who wouldn't love to take some time to themselves and end up having fun nails to brighten a less than awesome day?The Glamorous Graduatehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01992077804989307955noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7536149754482870065.post-56538830787286833852013-05-21T12:08:00.000-07:002013-05-21T12:16:53.003-07:00SPLURGE or SAVE: Cosmetics Edition<form action="http://poll.pollcode.com/an22p" method="post">

Here's a post you probably didn't see coming...a SPLURGE or SAVE that Maddie and I both agree on! When it comes to purchasing cosmetics, we both think that it can definitely be worth your money if you take a chance and SPLURGE on the right products from the right brands. Keep reading to find out our top choices for cosmetics that are worth the extra cash!<br />

Back in my high school days, I was the queen of drug store makeup. I couldn't get enough of <a href="http://www.burtsbees.com/natural-products/lip-care/beeswax-lip-balm.html">Burt's Bees</a> lip balm, <a href="http://www.covergirl.com/face-makeup/bronzer/trublend-mineral-bronzer">Covergirl's</a> super-shimmery bronzer, and I may or may not have tried almost every one of <a href="http://www.maybelline.com/Products/Eye-Makeup/Mascara.aspx">Maybelline's</a> mascaras based on their intriguing names. Don't get me wrong, these are great options for any girl on a budget. But there are times that you just need to treat yourself with some high quality, department store brands to upgrade your cosmetics collection! My go-to brand as of late has been <a href="http://www.narscosmetics.com/">NARS</a> cosmetics. If the name sounds familiar, it is probably because they have some of the most popular cosmetics products with their <a href="http://www.narscosmetics.com/color/cheeks/blush/~/orgasm-blush">Orgasm Blush</a> and <a href="http://www.narscosmetics.com/color/cheeks/blush/~/bronzing-powder">Laguna Bronzing Powder</a>. Being a sucker for beachy/bronzy beauty looks, these have become 2 of my absolute favorite beauty products! The shades are so great for work or play, depending on how heavy handed you go with the makeup brush. The blush goes for $29 and the bronzing powder goes for $36 on their website, but these NARS products are worth every penny in my opinion! Another beauty staple that I believe is the best of the best is <a href="http://www.sephora.com/diorshow-mascara-P40404">Diorshow Mascara</a>. Yes...I have branched out from Maybelline and I'm so happy I did. I first discovered Diorshow when I got my makeup done for a high school dance at the Dior counter in a department store and I got so many compliments that night that I decided to stick with it! You can find Diorshow in many different stores including <a href="http://www.sephora.com/diorshow-mascara-P40404">Sephora</a> and <a href="http://shop.nordstrom.com/s/dior-diorshow-mascara/2837565">Nordstrom</a> for $25 and I believe that you will fall in love with this mascara just as quickly as I did!<br />

<div style="text-align: left;">
I actually just recently converted to SPLURGING on my makeup at the beginning of this year. Beforehand, I could never even fathom spending more than $14 at a drugstore on my makeup, but the reality I soon found out was that I was actually spending more for my drugstore makeup. I don't know what finally made me take the plunge into <a href="http://www.maccosmetics.com/">MAC makeup</a>, but I was just plain tired of running to <a href="http://www.target.com/">Target</a> every 2 months for a replenishment on something I felt like I had just spent money on. I also happened to have a girl who worked for <a href="http://shop.nordstrom.com/c/mac?origin=leftnav">MAC</a> at <a href="http://www.nordstrom.com/">Nordstrom</a> and she definitely influenced my opinion about nicer makeup and was extremely helpful in helping me choose what was right for me. I use and love <a href="http://shop.nordstrom.com/S/mac-studio-moisture-tint-spf-15/3054254?origin=category&contextualcategoryid=0&fashionColor=&resultback=194">MAC Studio Moisture Tint</a> as my foundation. It tackles anything I feel like I have to cover up from dark circles to small blemishes. It is amazing for coverage, but it is also extremely light, which was a very important feature for me when choosing my foundation. I then follow that up with <a href="http://shop.nordstrom.com/S/mac-mineralize-skinfinish-natural/2908904?origin=related-2908904-60140400-1-3-2-Rich%20Relevence&PageCategoryId=PP">MAC 'Mineralize' Skinfinish Natural Powder</a>, which gives me a good matte finish without looking like I have a cake-face. I wasn't completely sold on this makeup actually until I figured out how well it stayed throughout my hectic days and crazy nights, and how long it lasted me. My first <a href="http://www.maccosmetics.com/">MAC</a> purchase was in the middle of January and I still have about half of both of these products left. Let me tell you how amazing it feels to wake up in the morning month after month and not worry that something is about to run out on me. I also believe that I am spending a comparable amount on makeup as I was before because I was buying drugstore makeup so often, and I am getting a much higher quality product that makes me feel awesome! My advice would be to go to <a href="http://www.nordstrom.com/">Nordstrom</a> and have someone help you find what is right for you. Makeup to me is very overwhelming and it is so helpful to have someone who is knowledgeable and honest to give you a hand. Then start with just a few items that you use daily to get a good feel for what you like and need. It is totally worth your time and money to SPLURGE on good makeup and if you don't believe it from me, believe it because Erin and I both agree that you can't go wrong by SPLURGING on your makeup. </div>

Although my preppy style is inherently pretty polished and professional, nothing is more disheartening than having to go out and buy something specifically for a professional purpose because professional in my mind has become synonymous with boring in many ways. Corporate America seems to be dominated by matching black leather, shoes, belts, and handbags. An exciting day in this fashion world is when you get to switch out your black for your brown. Coming into this professional world from college, which is a place full of self expression, is kind of a spirit killer. Depending on the industry you're going into, certain things will and won't be acceptable, but that doesn't mean you have to sacrifice your personality or unique style to look professional, in fact, it may help you!<br />
The first time I had to do this will forever stick out in my mind because it was the first time I had to spend my hard earned cash on something that I wasn't necessarily in love with. The first purse I spent some cash on as I was growing up my style was a <a href="http://www.dooney.com/">Dooney and Bourke</a> that I had bought from <a href="http://www.nordstrom.com/">Nordstrom</a> in my junior year. I liked the bag enough to spend the money on it, but I would be fooling myself if I didn't admit to wanting something a little more...fun. Mostly I was trying to be responsible; I knew I would be needing something that would look more grown up when I went to events with future employers. What I found over time was that, although the bag had to be professional looking, the inside of it could be 100% me.<br />
Every little cosmetic case, umbrella, coin purse, phone or laptop accessories and planner could say a whole lot about myself and my style. I absolutely love to fill my bag with pretty little things that scream Maddie. Even my keys speak to who I am to the point that when they get lost, no one even has to know what I drive to know that they're mine.<br />

<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://deuxlux.com/product/cosmetic/DL612-972.html" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://deuxlux.com/mm5/graphics/00000001/DL612-972-Daiquiri-Cosmetic-Pouch-Rose-Big.jpg" width="400" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://deuxlux.com/product/cosmetic/DL612-972.html">Deux Lux Daiquiri Cosmetic Pouch</a></td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br />
One of my favorite places to get cosmetic cases is at <a href="http://www.nordstrom.com/">Nordstrom</a>. Their Trend Accessories department carries a brand that holds my glitter obsession as near and dear to their heart as I hold it to mine called <a href="http://shop.nordstrom.com/sr?keyword=deux+lux&origin=keywordsearch&contextualcategoryid=0">Deux Lux</a>. Their stuff is reasonable for pouches that hold up for as long as they do and nothing beats pulling out a $28 coin purse out and having it mistaken for a $78 <a href="http://www.katespade.com/">Kate Spade</a> one, which happens often. They are made so that they are easy to clean, and they make a purse that accommodates a wide variety of styles.<br />

<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.reclaimitllc.com/img/accessory/vb_umbrella_lp.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="291" src="http://www.reclaimitllc.com/img/accessory/vb_umbrella_lp.JPG" width="400" /></a></td></tr>

</tbody></table>
<br />
Umbrellas also happen to be a huge way in which I felt like I can express myself in a professional setting. While you may not be able to use them in the office, nothing brightens up a dark and rainy day like seeing someone with an amazing umbrella walking down the street. My personal favorite place to get umbrellas is from <a href="http://www.verabradley.com/">Vera Bradley. </a>Because their patterns are always changing, you can always get something to reflect your style (or match your raincoat in my case). I love that they are bright without being overwhelming and they open at the push of a button, which is really handy when you're carrying a <a href="http://www.starbucks.com/">Starbucks. </a><br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.greenroomeco.com/wp_beta/wp-content/uploads/2011/03/2011_03_notebooks_slice_01.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="212" src="http://www.greenroomeco.com/wp_beta/wp-content/uploads/2011/03/2011_03_notebooks_slice_01.jpg" width="400" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.greenroomco.com/">Planners by Greenroom Co. </a></td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br />
Last, but certainly not the end of your options for showing your style while still being professional, is a good old fashioned planner. I know we live in a tech world, but I just can't seem to move away from a traditional planner. While many companies make planners that are super cute, nothing beats a company called <a href="http://www.greenroomeco.com/">Greenroom Co</a>, which is sold at <a href="http://www.target.com/">Target</a>. I literally can not get over how cute their planners are every time I'm there. I don't know how I get through an entire year without buying a new one half way through; Oh wait, I don't. Although they have a wide assortment of planners available, it shouldn't be a surprise by now that I loved the metallic gold series they did at the beginning of this year.<br />
<br />
These are just a few of your options for expressing yourself in a professional environment that is so drab. The opportunities are truly endless from your wallet, to your sunglasses case, to your water bottle, these accessories speak volumes about your style and I can't tell you how many times I have taken something out of my bag and it started a conversation with a coworker. So go forth, and know that even if you have to buy a bag that's totally blah, the inside can still be as fabulous as your style is.<br />

<br>
Some mornings I go to my closet, whether it be a work day or a weekend and absolutely hate everything I have in there. This is completely absurd because I have so many clothes it's actually comical, but there are just those mornings where I have to get dressed and everything is just so... drab. Either I have worn an outfit a hundred times, or I put things together that just seem too simple, or I can't piece together a new outfit because it's morning and I'm an extraordinarily dysfunctional human being in the morning. Whatever the case may be, my saving grace on mornings like thess is the statement necklace. The best part about statement necklaces is that they are so incredibly versatile and totally chic right now, especially if you're in love with a preppy and polished style like I am. I can put one over a collared shirt for an interesting detail to go to work in, slap one on over a flowy white tank and colored shorts to run errands in, or accessorize a solid dress to go to a brunch and every single time I get so many compliments on how amazing it looks. It truly is amazing what a difference a simple piece can do to your whole outfit. At the moment, my personal favorites are on the bigger side, but simple in their design and are turquoise or salmon. These will give you a ton of versatility amongst a wide spectrum of colors and outfits. To my surprise, the turquoise gives a pop of color against almost everything in my closet from lavender, to navy, to black and even coral. It's an extremely trendy color right now and it truly brings out the clothes I already own and make them a brand new outfit without having to really try or spend a ton of money to do it.<br>
I do have a couple personal favorite places to buy my statement necklaces because while I love <a href="http://www.jcrew.com/">J.CREW</a>, I have a really hard time dropping upwards of $130 on a necklace that might go out of style in a few seasons. Therefore, I shop<a href="http://www.francescas.com/"> Francesca's</a> because they always have an amazing selection of<a href="http://www.francescas.com/category/fashion+jewelry/necklaces.do?nType=1"> pieces</a> that are just the right size, color and price. They almost always look like I spent way more than I did on them and they hold up. <a href="http://www.forever21.com/">Forever 21</a> also surprisingly has an amazing selection for <a href="http://www.forever21.com/Product/Category.aspx?br=f21&category=acc_necklace_statement">statement necklaces</a> and for the price, it's a great place to grab a necklace to match something particular without feeling guilty later if it doesn't match everything in your closet. I'm currently obsessed with the one I have in turquoise by them pictured above. It literally matches and completes everything in my closet. So if you're as useless as me in the morning and your wardrobe needs a little sprucing up on the cheaper side of things, try a statement necklace that will make your outfit seem trendy, put together and more interesting all at once.<br>

Hair Care: SPLURGE</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Most people would be surprised to know that I have really wavy-curly hair. This is because I do terrible things to my hair to get it stick straight, to the point where you would never know what my natural texture is. I'm talking heating tools on heating tools. In order to combat all of this heat damage that I'm probably doing to my hair, I need hair care that will make my hair healthier while moisturizing it. Luckily, I have a grandparent that is obsessed with QVC and helped me to discover <a href="http://www.qvc.com/WEN-Beauty.category.6285.html?refine=1282822+4294966535" target="_blank">Wen Hair Care</a>. <a href="http://www.wenhaircare.com/">Wen</a> is great for my hair because the system is based on using a conditioning cleanser in place of shampoo and conditioner. <a href="http://www.wenhaircare.com/">Wen's</a> cleansing conditioner doesn't have the sulfates that are found in shampoos and can often strip your hair of important natural oils. I can definitely feel the difference after using <a href="http://www.wenhaircare.com/">Wen</a> and using regular shampoo. My hair feels extremely dry and tangled after using shampoo while my hair feels soft and moisturized after using <a href="http://www.wenhaircare.com/">Wen</a>. I will NEVER go back to using regular shampoo. Wen will cost you more than going to the drug store to buy any Pantene Pro-V shampoo. You can get a 6 oz. bottle from QVC for around $24 but the bottle will last you a long time, the cleansing conditioners come in great scents like Lavender or Sweet Almond Mint, and the price is definitely worth the results you get from switching to a cleansing conditioner treatment!<br />

Hair Care: SAVE</div>
I've already mentioned how obsessed I am with <a href="http://www.lushusa.com/" target="_blank">Lush</a> bath products, but they sell amazing <a href="http://www.lushusa.com/Hair/hair,en_US,sc.html" target="_blank">hair care</a> products as well. Unlike Erin, my hair is extremely fine, and dries stick straight with zero volume even in 100% humidity. I could not for the life of me, find a hair care routine that gave me volume without weighing my hair down and making it look greasy. Literally, first world problems, but for fine- haired women this is serious business. I searched high and low for the perfect shampoo, spending copious amounts of money on anything that I thought might work for me. Thankfully, my obsession with <a href="http://www.lushusa.com/" target="_blank">Lush </a>gave me more than just an excuse to splurge on <a href="http://www.lushusa.com/Bath/bath,en_US,sc.html">bath products</a>. It gave me the opportunity to save on my hair care routine. I use a funky shampoo by them called <a href="http://www.lushusa.com/Seanik/02164,en_US,pd.html?start=6&cgid=liquid-shampoos" target="_blank">Seanik</a>, which is a solid shampoo bar that is packed full of lemon oil for shine, seaweed for softness and sea salt for awesome volume. I follow that with their conditioner <a href="http://www.lushusa.com/on/demandware.store/Sites-Lush-Site/en_US/Search-Show?q=veganese">Veganese.</a> Like <a href="http://www.lushusa.com/Seanik/02164,en_US,pd.html">Seanik</a>, <a href="http://www.lushusa.com/Veganese/9999900820,en_US,pd.html?start=1&q=veganese">Veganese</a> was made for fine hair and has many of the same components that make <a href="http://www.lushusa.com/Seanik/02164,en_US,pd.html">Seanik </a>so amazing. The best part is that it contains agar seaweed gel which makes my hair so incredibly soft without the weight that comes with even the most expensive conditioners and the lemon oil scent lingers in my hair after I blow dry it. I can't express how easy this routine makes my life because I don't even have to use a spray or gel to give me volume before I dry my hair. Using these products is like having a cool island breeze go through my hair without the worry that my hair will look greasy or flat by 2 in the afternoon. Even better, <a href="http://www.lushusa.com/Seanik/02164,en_US,pd.html?start=1&q=seanik">Seanik</a> lasts me a good 3 months, can travel through airport security effortlessly and is only $12. <a href="http://www.lushusa.com/Veganese/9999900820,en_US,pd.html?start=1&q=veganese">Veganese</a> is slightly more expensive, but the biggest bottle, which is $33, lasts me about 7 months, but it would probably last much longer if I didn't have extremely long hair. Needless to say, both of these products give me Hollywood hair everyday without the exorbitant costs that often comes with it.<br />

Lucky for you, we've decided to give you a glamorous pick- me- up for every terrible Wednesday you have to get through and bust the hump day blues.<br />
Meet the <a href="http://www.lushusa.com/Sunny-Side/02482,en_US,pd.html?start=1&q=sunny%20side" target="_blank">Sunny Side Bubble Bar</a> from <a href="http://www.lushusa.com/" target="_blank">Lush Cosmetics. </a><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://demandware.edgesuite.net/sits_pod18/dw/image/v2/AAHL_PRD/on/demandware.static/Sites-Lush-Site/Sites-lushcosmetics-export/en_US/v1368626569669/images/product/02482.jpg?sw=350&sh=350" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="200" src="http://demandware.edgesuite.net/sits_pod18/dw/image/v2/AAHL_PRD/on/demandware.static/Sites-Lush-Site/Sites-lushcosmetics-export/en_US/v1368626569669/images/product/02482.jpg?sw=350&sh=350" width="200" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
This fantastic little gem has gotten me through stressful weeks at work, school and just my life in general. It's like the wine of bubble baths, but better because it glitters and you don't wake up with a headache the next morning. <span id="goog_539490494"></span><span id="goog_539490495"></span><a href="http://www.blogger.com/"></a><br />
<br />
When I crumble this into my tub, sweet citrus fills the air and I am immediately reminded of summertime and palm trees even in the dead of dreary winter. While the aroma is enchantingly warm, nothing beats the glittering waters and bubbles that this bar makes in my bath. Just picking it up at the store has me leaving with a beaming smile because of how sparkly it is and knowing that I get the pamper myself in a princess bath soon. As an added bonus, <a href="http://www.lushusa.com/" target="_blank">Lush</a> only uses all natural ingredients in their products and leads the fight against animal testing, so you can feel amazing about using their products! If you haven't tried this to unwind I highly recommend it and may or may not use one a month minimum (don't tell my fiancee).<br />
<br />
Want to feel extra princess-y? Try adding one of <a href="http://www.lushusa.com/" target="_blank">Lush's</a> many <a href="http://www.lushusa.com/Bubble-Bars/bubble-bars,en_US,sc.html" target="_blank">Bath Bombs</a> to really experience the molten glittery swirl of <a href="http://www.lushusa.com/Sunny-Side/02482,en_US,pd.html?start=1&q=sunny%20side" target="_blank">Sunny Side</a>. My personal favorite is <a href="http://www.lushusa.com/Big-Blue/00032,en_US,pd.html?start=1&q=Big%20Blue" target="_blank">Big Blue</a>, which is like having my own personal ocean in a bath. It turns the water blue, which really lets you see just how glittery <a href="http://www.lushusa.com/Sunny-Side/02482,en_US,pd.html?start=1&q=sunny%20side" target="_blank">Sunny Side</a> is, and has awesome things like seaweed in it for your skin. Also, it makes me feel like Princess Ariel from The Little Mermaid and even though I may be graduated, that doesn't mean I don't still want to revisit my childhood dream of being her.<br />
<br />
So go forth Glam Grads and make your Hump Day Glamorous with a princess bath from <a href="http://www.lushusa.com/" target="_blank">Lush Cosmetics!</a><br />

<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
If I had to admit to having one vice, it would without a doubt be my obsession with online shopping. Throughout the past few years of college, especially in the times I did not yet have a car, I have discovered a whole new world of shopping on the internet. And I think I have even come to prefer it over aimlessly walking around crowded malls. The selection online is so much more unique and I personally love having clothes that are not readily available to every other person who does not know about the hidden gems of the internet. In addition to broadening your selection of cute clothes and accessories, online shopping offers a ton of deals that you can't get in stores! I have found that one of the greatest tools to go along with online shopping is following your favorite brands on Twitter! Most brands offer deals exclusively to Twitter users who follow their brands and often provide promo codes with #hashtags. I would definitely recommend following your favorite stores and brands on their social media networks to take advantage of these deals. To help you out with finding some great online shopping sites with some of my favorite brands, I have put a list together of a few of my favorites!</div>
</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
1. <a href="http://www.revolveclothing.com/" target="_blank">REVOLVE Clothing</a></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
~Browse through the A-Z list of designers on Revolve Clothing's website and you'll find yourself in front of your computer for hours. Revolve has a huge selection of designers that range from affordable to higher-priced brands. You can basically find stylish clothes and accessories for any occasion and I guarantee people will be asking where you get your clothes from! Revolve doesn't have retail stores, only their online site so take advantage of their exclusivity now that you know about it! BONUS: Revolve offers free shipping and free returns on every order, not to mention they also have great sales!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
2. <a href="http://shopplanetblue.com/" target="_blank">Planet Blue</a><br />
~Going back to my obsession for everything "boho-chic", this online shopping site is the epitome of the California-girl style. There are a handful of Planet Blue stores located in California, but if you're not lucky enough to visit the shop in person, check out this website for the cutest styles from unique brands. For instance, the Australian brand <a href="http://shopplanetblue.com/one-teaspoon" target="_blank">One Teaspoon</a>, the fun knitwear brand <a href="http://shopplanetblue.com/wildfox" target="_blank">WILDFOX</a>, and one of Planet Blue's exclusive brands <a href="http://shopplanetblue.com/blue-life" target="_blank">Blue Life</a> are big sellers on this site! They have great 50-75% off sales and often offer deals on shipping on certain brands throughout the year!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
3. <a href="http://us.topshop.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/TopCategoriesDisplay?storeId=13052&catalogId=33060&geoip=home#slide2" target="_blank">TopShop</a><br />
~This brand that started in the UK has recently crossed the pond to America and I could not be more excited! There are currently only US store locations in Chicago, New York, Las Vegas and Los Angeles but the brand has also partnered up with <a href="http://shop.nordstrom.com/c/all-topshop?origin=topnav" target="_blank">Nordstrom</a>, making it more accessible for American fans of this stylish British brand. The prices are affordable, the clothes are adorable, and the customer service is impeccable! What more could you ask for?!<br />
<br />
Let me know what you think of my favorite online shopping sites in the comments! Let us know your favorites, too!<br />

<div style="text-align: center;">
<div style="text-align: left;">
When it comes to perfume, there are a lot of ways to go wrong. Wearing too much, wearing too little, and the worst mistake of all: wearing the wrong scent. Perfumes are supposed to make you smell good, right? So how could you possibly go wrong? Well, it's easier than you think. Long gone are the days of drenching yourself in Abercrombie's headache-inducing perfumes or being first in line to snatch up a celebrity scent from Justin Bieber or Lady Gaga. Let's face it, when asked what perfume you wear, do you really want to respond with the name of a teenage pop star known for their off-stage antics? I certainly don't. Now that you're getting further into the world of adulthood, finding a signature scent is one of the most mature things you can do (in terms of your beauty routine, of course). There are a ton of great perfume options for girls our age and getting complimented on your scent will certainly give you a confidence boost. Now, finding a signature scent takes some experimenting, but believe us, in the end it is definitely worth it. Once you find the scent that you love, you can save so much time, money, and effort with your beauty routine. Signature scents and preferences are different for everyone but to get you started, we have come up with a list of 5 of our favorites including our own signature scents!</div>
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<div style="text-align: left;">
<b>1. MADDIE'S SIGNATURE SCENT: <a href="http://www.chanel.com/en_US/fragrance-beauty/Fragrance-Coco-Mademoiselle-COCO-MADEMOISELLE-88207" target="_blank">Chanel Mademoiselle</a> </b>($175 for .5 oz)</div>
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<div style="text-align: left;">
~I switched to this scent after high school and have loved it ever since! It has hints of orange and grapefruit as well as bourbon vanilla and white musk. It is feminine and classy and I feel like it matches my personality perfectly! It costs a pretty penny but the price is worth it for this timeless signature scent!</div>
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<div style="text-align: left;">
<b><br /></b></div>
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<div style="text-align: left;">
<b>2. ERIN'S SIGNATURE SCENT: <a href="http://www.marcjacobs.com/marc-jacobs/fragrance/wclsc3.4oz/marc-jacobs-woman-eau-de-parfum-3-4-oz?sort=" target="_blank">Marc Jacob's Woman</a> </b>($95 for 3.4 oz)</div>
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<div style="text-align: left;">
~I stumbled upon this scent as a Christmas present from my Mom and I have been wearing it for 4 years now! It's a great scent enhanced by gardenias and I love it because it's light, which makes it feel elegant. I think it's perfect for any occasion and I always get compliments on it, so it's definitely worth a try! <a href="http://www.marcjacobs.com/marc-jacobs/fragrance/daisy3.4oz/daisy-eau-de-toilette-3-4-oz?sort=" target="_blank">Marc Jacobs Daisy</a> is also a great alternative that I use sometimes!</div>
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<div style="text-align: left;">
<b><br /></b></div>
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<div style="text-align: left;">
<b>3. <a href="http://www.calvinklein.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3613727" target="_blank">Euphoria Calvin Klein</a> </b>($47 for 1 oz)</div>
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<div style="text-align: left;">
~Calvin Klein is known for their simple, yet classic designs and this perfume is no exception! It's a scent that seems to work for all ages. The pomegranate, black orchid, and mahogany notes will make you feel mysterious, yet classy!</div>
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<div style="text-align: left;">
<b><br /></b></div>
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<div style="text-align: left;">
<b>4. <a href="http://www.sephora.com/flowerbomb-P255506" target="_blank">Viktor & Rolf Flowerbomb</a> </b>($160 for 3.4 oz)</div>
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<div style="text-align: left;">
~Based on it's popularity, we trust that this perfume will definitely be worth a try! As the title implies, the scent is a burst of floral with notes of jasmine, rose, orchid, and freesia. It's on the pricey side, but popularity doesn't lie!</div>
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<div style="text-align: left;">
<b><br /></b></div>
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<div style="text-align: left;">
<b>5. <a href="http://www.juicycouture.com/accessories-fragrance-juicy-couture" target="_blank">Juicy Couture</a> </b>($70 for 1.7 oz)</div>
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<div style="text-align: left;">
~A fun brand like Juicy Couture has to have a fun fragrance, right? Right! This scent has notes of watermelon, passion fruit and a base note with vanilla. Sounds good enough to eat! You'll feel like an Upper East-Sider when you spritz on this fun and flirty scent!</div>
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<div style="text-align: left;">

BOHO-CHIC</div>
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<div style="text-align: left;">
If you're like me, you find yourself drooling over Kate Hudson's effortlessly cool street style, Sienna Miller's of-another-era transformations, and Nicole Richie's hippie-chic California vibe. When it comes to style inspiration, I look towards the women that scream bohemian-chic. These women have found a way to incorporate iconic 60's and 70's style into the fashion of today and have skyrocketed to style icon fame in the meantime. The bohemian chic style is one that I covet and try to incorporate into my everyday style in some way, whether it's adding subtle touches to more conservative looks or going all out on the weekends. If I had to describe a boho-chic look, I would go with messy beach waves, wrists full of bangles, hints of turquoise, and flowy tops paired with skinny jeans. I'm often inspired by the Coachella-like trends that can often be found with brands like <a href="http://www.freepeople.com/" target="_blank">Free People</a> and <a href="http://www.houseofharlow1960.com/" target="_blank">House of Harlow 1960</a>. When it comes time to dress more conservative for school or work, I try to incorporate just one element of bohemian-chic style to an otherwise polished look for a hint of unique style. My name is Erin and you can find me playing "Look for Less" with the boho-chic styles of my favorite celebrities.</div>

POLISHED AND PREPPY</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
When I started working a pseudo 'real' job, I remember walking around the first week and realizing how completely juvenile I looked. Everyone I worked with seemed so put together every single day and I realized how much I wanted to be like them. To be one of those glittering, perfect people that is thought of when people give 'best dressed' awards. I dreamed of getting asked where I got my cute shoes or shirt and being told I looked cute every day. It meant changing how people thought of who I was, not by changing my personality, but by changing my wardrobe and developing my own unique style. Working in the fashion industry has inspired me to seek out my own take on style and I found myself completely drawn, time and time again, to very polished and preppy looks, despite the overwhelming number of options to choose from. Nothing makes me happier than bright colors, traditional details, layers, and a chic topknot bun. I pour over <a href="http://www.jcrew.com/" target="_blank">Jcrew</a> catalogs when they come to my house and seek style inspiration from greats like Kate Middleton and Blair Waldorf. I'm the girl that went to class in a mint gingham button down tucked into belted neon salmon pants finished with nude kitten heel, statement necklace and sock bun while my peers were in leggings. My name is Maddie and I worship button downs layered with cardigans, the perfect oxford and the color pink. </div>

<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Times, Times New Roman, serif;">Once upon I time, I lived in bargain jeans. <a href="http://www.luckybrand.com/" target="_blank">Lucky's </a> were my go- to in terms of denim. I could go to their outlet, get two for $100 and man, I thought they looked great! That was until I received a pair of <a href="http://www.jbrandjeans.com/" target="_blank">J Brand Jeans</a> as a gift. All at once the denim Gods opened the heavens and gave unto me the best pair of jeans my butt had ever experienced. The pair of jeans that turned me designer was the <a href="http://shop.nordstrom.com/s/j-brand-811-skinny-stretch-jeans-pure/3153384?origin=keywordsearch-personalizedsort&contextualcategoryid=2375500&fashionColor=&resultback=210&cm_sp=personalizedsort-_-searchresults-_-1_1_C" target="_blank">'811' Skinny Stretch</a>. They were a wiggle to get into, but the mid-rise shaped my waist perfectly and arched over the perfect butt I never knew I had until these beauties came along. Long story short, I'm never going back. The $158 pair of jeans was totally worth the SPLURGE just in how good they made my butt, hips and thighs look and how that made me feel in terms of both comfort and confidence. No other designer can compare to their fit and they maintain their quality and shape over time. </span></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Times, Times New Roman, serif;">The emotional roller coaster that is the search for perfect jeans is over, ladies. Gone are they days of trying on 25 pairs at just one store only to leave feeling underwhelmed, unattractive and unsuccessful. J Brand is the answer to the search for perfect jeans, there simply is nothing better. </span></div>

<span style="font-family: Times, Times New Roman, serif;">We all know the girl who has a closet with a section dedicated to denim. These are the girls who collect designer jeans and have a different pair for every occasion. This girl is not me. When it comes to jeans, I buy a couple of pairs within a year's time and wear them down until I can't wear them anymore. That is why when it comes to spending on jeans, I always choose to SAVE! The best part about saving on denim is that you do not have to sacrifice quality or style with less expensive denim brands. There are some great brands that offer jeans for less than $100 and can be found at most any department store. The brand you see in the pictures above is a relatively new brand called <b><a href="http://www.blanknyc.com/" target="_blank">BLANK NYC</a></b>. They offer so many different on-trend styles such as the tuxedo-inspired jeans, high-waist denim short, and pastel colored jeans. Another great option to save on jeans is the brand <b><a href="http://www1.macys.com/shop/womens-clothing/else-jeans-womens-clothing?id=56317" target="_blank">else</a></b>, which you can find at any Macy's department store. else is a product of the more expensive denim line, Joe's Jeans. However, else's prices start at $68 and offer a great option for comfortable jeans with a stretch and style fit for young adults. These are just a couple of options for saving on jeans purchases. Let us know what your favorite denim brands are in the comments below! Also, don't forget to take our poll: Jeans: SPLURGE or SAVE?</span></div>

<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Times, Times New Roman, serif;">Glamorous Graduate: A glamorous, sexy, brainy, bad-ass female who knows what she wants, works hard, and goes for it, all while looking fabulous. We may be intellectual, but that doesn't mean we don't know how to have fun and look good doing it.</span></div>

<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Times, Times New Roman, serif;">College graduation is an exciting transition time for anyone, but it's specifically a huge transition time for young women. No longer does your Hollister perfume qualify as a 'signature scent,' your Old Navy 2 for $5 flip flops no longer pass as acceptable party attire, and your North Face backpack with all the patches on it no longer suffices to carry your laptop around town. The reality of college graduation is that the time you spend with influential people is no longer scheduled, meaning that you could meet your new boss on a train or at a local Starbucks. The other unfair reality is that women are held to a much higher standard in terms of appearances than men. People know and expect men to be a little style challenged and expect women to be more put together. This isn't news.</span></div>

<span style="font-family: Times, Times New Roman, serif;">Fortunately for you, this blog aims to serve as your guide to upgrading your style after graduation on a new grad's budget. It will help you determine where to splurge, where to save and what is the best of the best out there so that you don't have to spend the time and money figuring it out for yourself.</span></div>
