If you're like me, you find yourself drooling over Kate Hudson's effortlessly cool street style, Sienna Miller's of-another-era transformations, and Nicole Richie's hippie-chic California vibe. When it comes to style inspiration, I look towards the women that scream bohemian-chic. These women have found a way to incorporate iconic 60's and 70's style into the fashion of today and have skyrocketed to style icon fame in the meantime. The bohemian chic style is one that I covet and try to incorporate into my everyday style in some way, whether it's adding subtle touches to more conservative looks or going all out on the weekends. If I had to describe a boho-chic look, I would go with messy beach waves, wrists full of bangles, hints of turquoise, and flowy tops paired with skinny jeans. I'm often inspired by the Coachella-like trends that can often be found with brands like Free People and House of Harlow 1960. When it comes time to dress more conservative for school or work, I try to incorporate just one element of bohemian-chic style to an otherwise polished look for a hint of unique style. My name is Erin and you can find me playing "Look for Less" with the boho-chic styles of my favorite celebrities.
POLISHED AND PREPPY
When I started working a pseudo 'real' job, I remember walking around the first week and realizing how completely juvenile I looked. Everyone I worked with seemed so put together every single day and I realized how much I wanted to be like them. To be one of those glittering, perfect people that is thought of when people give 'best dressed' awards. I dreamed of getting asked where I got my cute shoes or shirt and being told I looked cute every day. It meant changing how people thought of who I was, not by changing my personality, but by changing my wardrobe and developing my own unique style. Working in the fashion industry has inspired me to seek out my own take on style and I found myself completely drawn, time and time again, to very polished and preppy looks, despite the overwhelming number of options to choose from. Nothing makes me happier than bright colors, traditional details, layers, and a chic topknot bun. I pour over Jcrew catalogs when they come to my house and seek style inspiration from greats like Kate Middleton and Blair Waldorf. I'm the girl that went to class in a mint gingham button down tucked into belted neon salmon pants finished with nude kitten heel, statement necklace and sock bun while my peers were in leggings. My name is Maddie and I worship button downs layered with cardigans, the perfect oxford and the color pink.
